Let’s play a little game called Bad News/Good News in Thailand!
Bad news: There’s a military coup going on.
Good news: No school today! Long weekend! Woop!
Bad news: Three days of diarrhea.
Good news: Between not eating for three days, the weight I lost before I left the US, and the weight I’ve lost since I’ve been here I’m the lightest I’ve been since 2009!
Bad news: Had to go to the doctor because my lower intestine hates me.
Good news: The visit plus the medicine he gave me cost a grand total of 280 Baht (around $9) and totally worked!
Bad news: Too tired (from aforementioned diarrhea) to travel this weekend.
Good news: Enjoying the simple pleasures of my new town! Just went out tooling around on my scooter and got a delicious pineapple smoothie and saw a roadside cart selling ladders. This led to many questions such as: “Who buys ladders by the side of the road?” and “Who’s idea was it to stack up their cart with ladders to sell?” Also, I rearranged all of the furniture in my bedroom.
Bad news: There’s no Memorial Day in Thailand.
Good news: I got a long weekend anyway! Suck on that, America.
Bad news: There’s a nationwide 10pm curfew.
Good news: There’s nothing to do in my town after 9 anyway!
Life goes on as usual in my province, so I want to send assurances that I am completely out of harm’s way to all those reading back home. Feel free to comment with any questions!

I never thought I’d hear you say, “Just went out tooling around on my scooter”. Ha!

I take it you didn’t buy a ladder from the side of the road! 🙂 Glad you are feeling better, Anna. You’re looking quite stylish on your purple scooter!
